Do you know what developers and artists have in common? You probably guessed it right, the blank canvas. Just like artists, software developers see this as an opportunity the let their creative juices flow, executing the references they gathered through time, and combining it with their passion to create something magnificent out of nothing. This is best time for them to by express their thoughts and to see them come to life right in front of their screens.

But like every work of art, whenever an opportunity presents itself, this can also be a challenge. And what can you do to properly address and manage it? Here are a few suggestions:

Get involved

Engage with the members of the working group. Get to know the stakeholders, the people who are asking for the application to be developed. Feel free to immerse yourself with them to know how they operate to see and understand things from their perspective and also introduce yourself and let them get to know you too.

Ask questions

Ask them how they envision the application and how it can make things convenient for them. When do they want the application up and running, how should it be implemented and what are their desires? Ask the right questions you need to complete the masterpiece you are about to present to them.

Be open to ideas

Talk to them. Feel free to share you ideas and ask them about their thoughts. Encourage them to tell you their ideas too and you will be surprised with the information you’ll gather by just listening to what they have to say.

These are just a few of the tested and proven techniques that have worked for us. What’s yours? We would love to hear from you too so feel free to share yours.
